ABOUT US

The french parquet floor company is based in Brighton, (East) Sussex. We have launched in the South East, including Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey and London, however we work throughout the UK. We supply and fit reclaimed parquet floors for both domestic and commercial purposes. Recycling wood lowers our impact on the environment and as the floors have been in-situ for hundreds of years the are hard wearing and full of character.  Examples of our work can be viewed in Brighton, West Sussex and London.

Our founder Jim Sanderson began his journey into wood in his late teens making cabinetry when he learnt the craft of marquetry. He moved on to restoring oak and victorian pine floors for projects throughout the country.

In 2005 Sanderson began his journey reclaiming boards from historic buildings and used marquetry skills to create bespoke parquet floors. Over the years he has honed his skills and become an expert in his field. His passion for wood and design are second to none.

We source wood from derelict chateau's in France, which is typically 200-300 years old. We will then hand restore the reclaimed wood ready for installation. Our products are sustainable and unique. Every piece of wood is different and has a story to tell. At The French Parquet Floor Company we believe in taking care of each block of wood.

We love the natural look of the wood with all its imperfections, knots and flaws, that’s what gives it character and makes each floor unique. If you like a more uniform look we can fill it and stain it to create the look you want to achieve.

Originally sourced from slow growing mature trees the wood we use is dense and strong. Oak is naturally both water and decay resistant. It can be used throughout any property, domestically and commercially.  Kitchen and high footfall areas are not a problem, in fact we think natural wear only enhances the look.  Its insulating properties make it a perfect combination with under floor heating.

The French Parquet Floor Company can count many prestigious names on our client list. We supplied and installed reclaimed parquet flooring for Sarah Beeny, initially on the Channel 4 programme "Beeny's Restoration Nightmare" and most recently for her latest show, "Double Your House for Half the Money".

In "Beeny's Restoration Nightmare", Jim, our founder, was responsible for bringing life back to the tired wood flooring in Rise Hall (Sarah’s Grade II*-listed house in East Yorkshire). Jim also produced stunning reclaimed parquet flooring in the bathroom areas.

In "Double Your House..." Jim provided the beautiful and stunning reclaimed parquet flooring for couple Jenny and Russ Hunt.
