We believe our reclaimed parquet flooring is the best in the UK. Prudently sourced, quality controlled guarantees no mixed batches. Some of the reclaimed parquet flooring panels are hand-cleaned on all sides for ease of installation and some panels are hand-cleaned on the underside only. Full restoration on the reclaimed floor panels takes place after installation.

Making sure there are no mixed batches is vital when purchasing reclaimed solid wood flooring. This is because the wood flooring hundreds of  years old and not generally uniformly produced therefore each floor has its own individuality, character, wear & tear patterns and distinctive look and feel.

When the reclaimed solid wood is restored, the batch should produce similar characteristics as each block has matured in the same place at the same time.

We use Bona sanders and products on all our parquet floors. Founded in 1919 Bona provide unique floor treatments that protect and preserve the true nature of parquet floors.

To safeguard your investment in reclaimed parquet flooring we would always recommend engaging the services of wood floor fitters who are highly proficient in solid wood installations and have actually worked with reclaimed wood flooring.

Their expertise is required when setting the flooring out for installation, paying particular attention to the crown line as this can make or break the overall look of a solid wood floor. This can be a little difficult to achieve therefore it is our belief reclaimed parquet fitting is not for the novice DIY'er.

The French Parquet Floor Company's expert fitters have many years experience with installing reclaimed parquet and solid wood flooring block and strips. Amazingly they still retain that passion to ensure each reclaimed floor is installed and restored to the highest standard possible

We love the natural look of the wood with all its imperfections, knots and flaws, that’s what gives it character and makes each floor unique. However we are  able to create any finish you’d like shiny, matt, oil, wax, varnish,  colour or natural.

If you like a more uniform finish we can fill it and stain it to create the look you want to obtain.  All this can be achieved whilst ensuring the floor is  long lasting, durable and requires little maintenance.

If it’s for a modern open-plan living space, a distressed chevron or herringbone floor will lend itself to the general wear and tear it will receive.

There are a variety of under floor heating systems on the market; the two main types used are the electrical matting and hot water pipe systems. When choosing a method of under floor heating it is important to use a qualified installer who will be able to recommend a manufacturer and the best system to use for you.

Wood is a natural product and will always have some moisture content.  Typically solid wood has between 12-24% moisture content and engineered wood 8-12% moisture content. We only use reclaimed wood which is hundreds of years old. On average it has been been though between 800 and 1200 seasons, the wood we use typically has a moisture content of 0-2%, making it ideal for underfloor heating. Furthermore wood is a natural insulator so your floor will be warm long after the heating has been turned off.

Whichever heating system you decide to use it is important to make sure that the temperature doesn’t vary wildly. When extremes of temperature or humidity occur that’s when problems may occur. Hot spots may be present if the heating system is substandard or not fitted correctly, which is why it’s important to use a qualified engineer to install it. We recommend that you always clean your floor with a specialist maintenance kit, not a bucket of water and a mop. We have never had any problems when these two things have been adhered to.

If in the unlikely event that you have problem with your heating and hotspots occur our blocks are individual and not tongue and groove making it easy to replace them individually.
